It is definitely autumn here. You can tell because I’m wearing my big comfy cardigan. Before anyone tries to give me crap about the fact that I own a cardigan, let me point out that it is an Evil Dead cardigan. There are twin Necronomicons on the front, chainsaws at the cuffs, and the iconic cabin in the woods on the back.
And it is soft and warm.
I’ve spent the last week trying to come to grips with the results of the election and doing my best not to slide into a doom filled depression. The one saving grace is that I have a trip coming up soon and I’ve been able to distract myself by planning for that. I’m afraid I can’t say more about that because the location is a secret.
Tomorrow, 14 November, tune in to Otherworldly Culture for Dead on Movie Reviews. I’ll be talking about The Heretic.
Listening To: Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books by Kirsten Miller. This is the story of people fighting back against book banning, revisionist history, and all of the things I’m worried about right now. It is exactly the perfect book to soothe my psyche.
Currently Reading: Welcome to Elm Street: Inside the Film and Television Nightmares by Wayne Byrne. I’m continuing my non-fiction/read stuff on my shelf trend.
Current Obsession: Forged in Fire We’ve been catching up on this and having a blast. We’ve reached a period where they have moved away from the classic four people battling out in the forge and are focusing on tie-ins and special contests which is, I’ll admit, a little less fun.

This Week’s Rambling: RIP Tony Todd
This week the cinematic community lost a great individual when Tony Todd passed. I’ve already spoken at length about my love of the movie The Crow where he played the cool and menacing Grange. While he may be best known for his role as the titular Candyman, genre fans know him from numerous roles including Ben in the Night of the Living Dead remake. His deep voice and imposing stature was perfect for darker roles like William Bludworth in Final Destination 2.
In reality, Mr. Todd was a genuinely nice person. I had the pleasure of meeting him numerous times on the horror convention circuit. The first time was when I was a fledgling vendor, struggling to drag my wares to the convention floor. He was outside on what appeared to be an important business call (the fact that he had stepped outside to take the call instead of doing so in the middle of a bunch of people shows what a class act he was). He paused his call and ran over to hold the door open for me. I was equal parts grateful and star struck.
He was very nice to all of the fans who came to meet him, giving everyone individual attention and making sure everyone had a great experience. He will be truly missed.
